Camping Advice

Spending time in the great outdoors is a very popular American pastime. Camping is something that many of us enjoy doing, and many more may have never had the pleasure of experiencing. If you decide to go on a camping trip, there is a lot of good camping advice that should be followed. Probably the most important piece of advice would be to ensure that you have plenty of food with you for the entire time you will be in the woods. Secondly, check your tent for any holes to prevent water leaks, and make sure you have the proper tools to pitch it when you arrive. Bringing insect repellent is another important piece of camping advice. You don’t want to spend your time miserable with bee stings or mosquito bites, which can really put a damper on things.

Another valuable piece of camping advice is to be sure to use sunscreen as much as possible. Even if you feel you are shaded by the trees or are in a deeply wooded area, you can still feel the effects of too much sun. Use at least a 15 SPF to avoid nasty sunburns. If you’re camping during the summer, you might thing you will be warm enough throughout your adventure. However, most mountainous regions get very cold at night, so be sure to bring warm sleeping bags and even a jacket. If you need more camping advice, ask around to friends or find some books that can offer more pointers on camping outdoors. It is better to bring too many things and be too prepared than to be unprepared and “lost” once you get there. The combination of a warm campfire, good friends and family, and a relaxing time, along with the things needed to ensure safety will guarantee a wonderful camping experience for all.
