Teen Love Advice

The teenage years are often difficult, rife with confusion, peer pressure, and the pressures of dating. Hormones and bodies are changing, and combined with the oppressive and tremendous amount of influence that television and the media have on teens, the societal impact of dating is rather large. The unfortunate thing is that many teenagers feel forced into having premarital sex, or at minimum the need to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. There are resources available for teen love advice, ranging from magazines, radio talk shows, Internet chat rooms, and friends to name a few. With such a wide range of different teen love advice available, the input can be confusing at times for young people. It is important as parents to remember that we all experienced this time in our lives, and to be sure we lend a sympathetic yet reasonable ear.

Most kids seek out teen love advice from friends. This is the most common way to get advice, but it might not always be the most effective, and they probably will not get the most mature responses this way. Magazine, particularly for girls, offer up advice columns and featured articles that can help guide them through the dating world. However, sometimes even the magazines geared towards teens do not always offer up the best advice. Of course, another large portion looking for teen love advice seeks it in online chat rooms. This method runs the risk of being dangerous because of all the predators that exist in the world today. If you’re a parent, be sure to monitor your teen’s online and chat room usage. The most effective and positive way to give your teenager advice about love is to listen when you can, and ask questions whenever possible. In time, your teen should be able to open up, and will come to you first for advice.
